Most cars we buy come directly from the manufacturer. After vehicles are returned to the manufacturer after a lease ends, or a vehicle is traded in, they are often sold at auction where we purchase them. At the time of auction, an announcement is made on every vehicle that has sustained damage. The auctions announce damages to the vehicle, be it from an accident or other damage not caused by an accident. An example of this would be Structural Damage where the vehicle was involved in some sort of minor impact causing damage to a certain part of the vehicle. While Structural Damage may sound severe, it may sometimes indicate something as small as a fender-bender, or slight damage to items such as door panels. We want our customers to be able to make the most educated buying decision. We ensure that our vehicles are in sound mechanical condition.
In cases where a customer is dissatisfied with a vehicle they have purchased BRAND NEW from a manufacturer, they may offer or agree to reacquire the vehicle and give the customer a refund or a replacement vehicle. In many cases, the manufacturer is unable to verify the concern, but agrees to take the vehicle back in the interest of customer satisfaction. In other cases, a required part or software update may not be available. Buybacks always carry the remaining balance of the factory warranty. In most cases, an extended warranty on the repaired defect also applies.
Auto manufacturers value their reputation. That reputation is an integral part of the value attached to the models that they sell. Vehicles repurchased by a manufacturer may need repairs to correct problems, but that isn't always the case. Vehicles are often repurchased as a gesture of goodwill to maintain a valued relationship with a customer. In other instances, parts may not have been available in a timely manner to fix a minor problem and the customer may ask the manufacturer to buy back the vehicle. There are even cases where buyers will fabricate problems to get out of a vehicle if they know how to use the "Lemon Laws" to their advantage. Furthermore, there are situations where a vehicle does have a legitimate mechanical problem that needs extra attention to correct. Regardless of the reason for a buyback, when a true problem does exist, the manufacturer not only wants to fix it, the company is required by law to fully correct any issues before the vehicle is offered for sale. Our experience with Buybacks supports the fact that manufacturers ensure the repurchased vehicle meets all requirements for performance before it is offered for sale again.
